Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve been involved in web design and development for over 20 years and in that time we’ve gained a vast amount of experience and knowledge. So, we’ve pulled together the most common questions we’re asked below.
Getting Started
I'm new to all of this website business, how does it work?
Don’t worry, we’ve got you… that’s why we’re the experts after all. It doesn’t have to be complicated and the good news is you can get into as little or as much of the detail as you’d like. If you’d like to dig a little deeper and learn more, check out our process.
Can you provide me with training?
Definitely, we’ll show you how to maintain your new website as well as provide access to training content you can go through yourself if you ever run into trouble.
Websites & Hosting
Do I need my own domain name and web hosting?
Yes. Your domain name is your “address” on the internet and where customers will find you. Hosting is where your site will live and provides the technology to do all the cool stuff that WordPress has to offer. We have a preferred hosting provider that we work closely with if you don’t have hosting already and we can get you set up quickly and easily (including transferring your current site to their servers free of charge).
How long does it take to build a website?
As above, this really depends on the complexity of your particular website, however we find on average that from start to finish you’re looking at 4-6 weeks. This is also dependent on how “ready to go” your content, imagery and/or brand assets are.
Will my website work on mobiles and tablets?
Absolutely… all the websites that we develop are designed to work across a wide range of devices including the most popular mobiles and tablets.
How much does a website usually cost?
The short answer… it depends. Different customers have different requirements which means it’s hard to give a definitive price before we talk to anyone. In general the websites we build start around the $5k mark and go up from there depending on your specific requirements.
Can I sell things through a website you build for me?
You can, we are able to build an online store for you and show you how to add new products or manage existing ones.
Our Process
How will you know what I want/need?
Our requirements capture process is designed to help us understand exactly why you are looking for a new (or redeveloped) website. It allows us to dig into your business and explore your motivation, as well as help us get to know you better.
Once we’ve gone through this process we’ll have a pretty clear idea of what your needs are and will use this to outline our approach to building you a customised solution.
How will I know whether my site is fit for purpose?
The second and third phases of our process is where we get into the structure of the site, potential page layouts and also bring together an initial prototype for you to “play with”. This allows us to see how the site will function without getting too hung up on the look and feel.
It’s at this point that you’ll get a sense of how the site will work and the content that it will contain, allowing you to provide feedback and confirm that you’re happy with the way your new website is going to work.
What happens after my site goes live?
Once your website is launched, we will provide you with an initial period of support to ensure that everything is running smoothly and you are able to manage the site yourself (if that’s your preference).
If you’d prefer not to have to worry about WordPress and plugin updates, security and even updating content, then we offer a range of ongoing website care plans that include updating your software, regular backups, security scans and uptime checks.

Search Engine Optimisation is all about ensuring that your customers can find your website when they are using search engines to find answers to their questions or products they’re interested in.
